OUR STORY

Our business was actually started as a vehicle repair garage.  On the day before Thanksgiving in 1984 we slaughtered several hogs as part of our family's annual butchering event. The wind was really blowing hard that day, so we hung the carcasses in our garage.  Later, a neighbor was driving by and saw us cutting up the hogs.  He stopped and asked if we would butcher his hogs. We told the neighbor no and kept telling him no as he continued to ask; but Dad finally told us to butcher the neighbor's hogs because he was tired of the neighbor "aggravating" him about it. After that the neighbor started telling others, and as word spread and more people wanted butchering done, we transformed the garage into a butcher shop.

After good success with our regular butchering service, in 2015 we decided to pursue licensing to be able to offer USDA-compliant butchering service.  After a great deal of effort, in mid-November of 2016 we were approved to offer USDA-compliant butchering service.  People now come from a five-state area to make use of our custom slaughtering service and to buy products from Eader's Butcher Shop.
